For the past 69 years, not a single Hasidic Jew has been nominated for an Oscar, again calling out Hollywood for a lack of diversity and attention to the minority’s cinematic talent.
“Everyone says Jews run Hollywood, yet the people who might most accurately resemble Judaism in its true form are absent,” said Rabbi Resh Lakah “For the 69th year in a row a Hasidic Jew has not been nominated for an Academy Award.”
A Hasidic Jew has not been nominated for an Academy Award since Sean Cohen was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the movie The Ten Commandments back in 1956. He, however, did not win the Oscar.

World famous singer and Hasidic Jew Matisyahu called the Oscar snub blatant bigotry.
“What about the famous acting from Yaddah Bing in the Diamond Factory,” said Matisyahu. “Or the work of director Abidan Shail on his movie A Kosher World. All these ‘members’ of the Academy clearly hate our people.”
Hollywood insiders note that many of the most popular roles in Hollywood require nudity, sex, or pretending to kill mass amounts of people usually with a large fire arm. Also, ringlets are really hard to disguise.
But even when the movie has Hasidic Jews as characters they are often played by non-Hasidic actors.
“Possibly the biggest role was in the opening of the movie Snatch. And they used Benecio del Toro, a Puerto Rican Catholic,” said Rabbi Lakah. “It disgusts me.”
“Our only hope is for next year,” said Matisyahu. “We waited a long time in the dessert, we can wait even longer for an Oscar.”
